Update on Elder Smith

Dane was finally able to get a new companion Wednesday. He is now with Elder Gifford. We don't know anything about him yet but like he says anything is better than what he had. He is looking forward to really getting out there and spreading the gospel. He is so excited he has his first baptism set for May 3rd. This fellow's name is Billy Blass, he is a polynesian fellow. Dane said that they really connected and they had football in common. He said that Dane was put in his path for this purpose. That made Dane feel really happy about this. They have had quite the storms out there. Hail the size of golf balls! They had one lady by the name of Pat that came to them in tears and said "I want that book!" (the book of mormon) So they gave her a copy of the book and a pamplet of the restoration with their phone number on it. Dane just had a feeling that she was one that was already prepared for them to teach. Still waiting to see the outcome of this.

He loved watching conference in the church, he took a pocket of candy and shared it with all the kids that were there. There wasn't too many members there. A lot of them watch it online in their homes now. He says that 90% of the members there are converts. That is a huge number and he says that goes to show you how new the church is there in the midwest.
Oklahoma has had some big fires out there but they didn't get too close to him so he wanted us to know he was ok from that.

He wants everyone to know how much he loves your letters but it is hard to write back to everyone. So, if you don't get a response it's not that he wants to write back because he does love sharing his experience there but there just isn't a lot of time to write everyone.
