I need to share a letter with all the Mom's out there. Dane's letters are always just great. Cooper and Boone think they are all mushy and stuff but from a Mom's perspective this is what you live for all those days that are trying in raising your family. I want you all to know that it is worth it and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I will try and write a bit of his letter this week to you all. His letters are quite lengthy and so I will just try and do some of it. Here goes:
"It's a beautiful day here in Oklahoma it's about 70 degrees and a gentle breezing blowing. The trees and grass are gren and the ponds and sky are blue. I couldn't be any more humble by the beauty of God's creations. I am falling in love with Oklahoma." Wow huh? Did you ever think you would hear Dane say something like that? There is more....
"Today was ward conference and I meet with President Keys. I look up to him alot along with Pres. Lefler. I know they are called of God and have special keys over the church. I have so much respect for the leaders of our church. After opening exercises Pres Keys grabbed me and said, While I was sitting on the stand I looked down at you and said a quiet little prayer. I was impressed upon to try something new. I want to start a new ward mission plan. Then he looked at me and said it will all start with you. He taught us a great lesson on the order of the Priesthood. I was able to answer everyone of his questions. The power of the Spirit is so remarkable. I know this is the true church on this Earth. That God created this Earth thru Jesus Christ. ANd God created us. And he has given us the opporunity on this Earth to return to him and only thru his son Jesus Christ can we return. He has given us tools (Book of Mormon, Bible, Prophets) to use to learn to become more knowledgable in his gospel, to gain a realtionship with our Father and his Son. I know God lives. He lives with a perfect body and perfect knowledge of all things. I know Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice fo overcome our sins. No one else could have done this. Only thru Him can we be saved in "Judgement". I want to be the best person I can. I want to follow Christ's example. He is perfect. He came and lived a life just as we are now and he lived perfectly. That is what keeps me humble. I know that I am not the most academicaly smart person but I do know that my testimony and the priesthood that I hold is more powerful than anything. I will never cease learning of the gospel and Jesus Christ. I look forward to being retired and sitting in my rocking chair and studying from the scriptures. Nothing is more important than my salvation and that of others that I love. "
His letters are always from 6-10 pages long and like this all the time. It is incredible to see the growth in him. He also had the usual to say "I need sunflower seeds and send some more garments etc". He loves the people in Oklahoma and is loving the work there.
