Wow! How do you describe the day that you drop your son, the one that you have raised, rocked, feed, cleaned, held, cussed, and loved for over 19 years off to the MTC not to see him or hold him for 2 full years. It's a day full of emotion. I woke up and feed him his favorite omelette breakfast,
did some last minute washing and packing for him. We all got ready and dressed and the tears start to fall as you think of the enormity of it all. I sat with Dane on the couch before putting on my make up and hugged and cried and told him how much I love him and would miss him and what a great missionary he would make. I knew that I wouldn't have the time at the MTC to be able to do so I did it before we went. We then gathered in the suburban with his luggage and he was worried that he might get hungry so we stopped at Subway for another bite to eat. He had half his sandwich and then packed the other half in his backpack and off we went.
Arriving at the MTC they direct us where to go and you see so many other boys doing the same thing with their families following behind. We unloaded his luggage and then met up with Ryan after parking the car. We went inside where Dane was able to get his Missionary tag and meal card and then we had some last mi
nute photo ops.
We then went into the chappel where the MTC presidency spoke with us about rules and such and then we watched a film on the MTC and missionary work. We then had a prayer and said our good byes. We hugged Dane and told him how much we loved him and were proud of him, big crocodile tears for all of us and then he walked thru a door with one more look backwards and he was gone. Now just waiting for that first letter to come and to let us know how he is doing....the saga continues.

He is going to make a really good missionary. You should be really proud to know you raised such a wonderful young man. The girls (especially Jaycie) are really going to miss him.
It sounds like you had a lot of fun before he left.
What a wonderful boy you have raised. Thank you so much for letting us be part of your day. We really love Dane and we know he will make a great missionary. What a great example he is to the boys.
